⚡ FLYING COLOURS WITH SCIENCE

Based on the eBook “5 Steps to Help Your Child Score in Science”

Science exists in our everyday life.

  1. Apply Concept Learnt to Everyday Life
  2. Hands-on Learning
  3. Start revision early and be consistent
  4. Use the Answering Technique
  5. Use Scientific Words

EXPERIMENT CHROMATOGRAM BUTTERFLY

What you’ve learnt

Ink is made up of a mixture of different colours. As the water carries the ink up through the paper, the ink will separate into its different colours because some colours move further and faster than the rest.

You can try pens of different colours to discover which colours are used to make up the inks.

EXPERIMENT STRAW PAPER PLANE

What you’ve learnt

The paper plane has a streamlined body shape which helps it to fly. Its hoops help to keep the straw balanced while it is flying.

You can try with different shapes or use circles of the same size to discover if your paper plane can fly.

EXPERIMENT PAPER HELICOPTER

What you’ve learnt

The helicopter shape we made in the activity can be found in nature. Lots of seeds have ‘wings’ so they can float to new areas and reproduce.

You can try with wings of different lengths or paper clips of different mass to discover how long the paper.
